USAI got the 2009 Next Generation Luminaires Award Winner
The future of commercial LED (light emitting diode) innovation just got brighter. Lighting manufacturer announced that it has been got a praise as a winner of a 2009 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Award for BeveLED, a new recessed, LED adjustable downlight. This will be a milestone achievement, the NGL Award sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and organized in partnership with the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) not only affirms the high-quality, -performance and energy-efficient qualities of BeveLED, but also strengthens the company’s position as a leader in the LED lighting marketplace. The NGL Awards were presented last week at Strategies in Light, the leading event for the global LED and lighting industry.
“The number of LED lighting products is growing rapidly, and so is the industry's and consumers' need for the knowledge about this advanced yet still-emerging lighting technology,” said Bonnie Littman, president of USAI. “The Next Generation Luminaires program helps to simplify the marketplace and answer the question: is this product worthy of specification. To be recognized as a ‘yes’ product and company is a tremendous honor. The certification is a true testament to USAI’s forward-thinking and innovative ability to address our end users’ need for a high-performing, energy-efficient and good looking LED accent light. We’re filling a void in the marketplace while helping to enhance the education of the lighting industry.”
ACCENTING EFFICIENCY
USAI strengthens one of its most successful product lines • the Bevel family • with the introduction of the BeveLED recessed LED adjustable downlight, further redefining the way designers approach lighting specification. With the efficiency, flexibility and optical control needed to bridge striking aesthetics with functional application in a variety of interior installations.
The BeveLED adjustable downlight provides end users with ease-of-use through:
•interchangeable lenses that allow for beam spread adjustment based on a space’s lighting needs;
•die-cast aluminum trims available in a variety of finishes, including trimless, round and square with patent-pending All-Ways Square• recessed housing;
•high-efficiency 10 and 20 watt 3000K tightly-binned LED light engines that are field replaceable and contribute to energy and cost savings.
Designed to celebrate market-ready products that exemplify the best luminaires in quality and consistency, the 2009 NGL committee selected USAI’s BeveLED product as one of the stand-out winners among many entries. The rigorous technical requirements and evaluation criteria for NGL, established by DOE, IALD and IES, are based on: performance, production readiness, practicality and ease of serviceability for real-world lighting applications in the commercial specification market.
The BeveLED recessed LED adjustable downlight, as well as its Bevel family counterparts, including Bevel metal halide and compact fluorescent, meet the industry’s most stringent standards for energy efficiency and provide new options for designers to meet LEED certification criteria and energy codes requiring ASHRAE 90.1-2001 standards or later.
